We made it ..... and the work goes on
Amazing as it seems to us, we are here, sleeping here at night, living here. The decorators did a cracking job, working one of the Jubilee Bank Holidays, and leaving only the varnishing of the staircase to tomorrow, on the basis that the stairs should remain protected for the actual removal process. The removals company, a small family affair we used 16 months ago to move to the rental, also played a blinder and had everything tidily in position here by tea-time on Tuesday, having started at 8.30. And we think we did well, too, meeting our three weeks timetable for packing up all our stuff including the things in the double garage, and succeeding in getting a new mid-sleeper bed and curtains in our bedroom put up here over the weekend instead of going to Jubilee parties.
This morning we handed back the keys to the rental property, having done a big clean there on Wednesday. And now we are here, and it is lovely. It's still dusty, and everything outside is still to be done - cladding, green roofs, paving, garden construction, but we have great views of hills and big skies and we have our designed spaces and details which we hope will give us pleasure for many years to come.
We've decided that this blog doesn't end with the move, but will follow the remaining construction phases through to something like the end. For now here are some more images.
