Building a new house

When we chose the simple colours for our bathroom, shower room and ensuites (and you can't get much simpler than mostly white, can you?) we thought it would be a nice idea to have a splash of different colour in each one, and we asked our tilers to produce a couple of horizontal lines as accents.  Now that they have finished, the odd thought occurs that our facilities might be seen as supporting different sporting clubs - which colour suits your favourite?

We've had an interesting few weeks, with Elizabeth and myself now well into our Covid recoveries and managing to walk increasing distances each day, sometimes without the need for a midday nap. Work on the house has slowed to a stop over this last (Easter) weekend. Our family bathroom was tiled last week and the downstairs shower room is due for completion next week, to be followed, we hope, by Sion soon coming back to fit all the sanitaryware. Rob did a day last week, taking cabling to the kitchen island and popping up a couple of outside lights. He reckons to have a total of four more days' work to do on site, including the fitting of garden circuits. We are now getting impatient about how much longer we will need to be in our rental property. We have been here for 14 months now and, cost aside, will be glad to move on. We have even started packing up our books and thinking hard about which items of furniture are not going to make the move with us. this was the first half-day...

Well the big news for blog post 100 is not so much about the house as about us. Covid-19 finally caught up with us both this week, with Elizabeth succumbing first and Ian a couple of days later. We have both had some unpleasant symptoms and have felt pretty exhausted, but we are grateful for our vaccination histories. While it's no longer illegal to go out while testing positive, it's clearly unkind to get close to others, so our jaunts to the house have been limited to a couple of out-of-hours trips and have involved taking a couple of camping chairs with us so that we could have a sit down while there. It's not exactly moving in, but it felt different. The tiling of the two ensuites has been completed with the floors down and grouted. Our tilers have had a few days on another job this week but should be back soon to complete the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. we got the idea from our tilers - they always seem to be on a break, sitting in their camping chairs, when we ...
