Building a new house

In the last week steady progress has been made with floor surfaces, we have had a date  ten days away confirmed for the delivery of our kitchen, and more of the scaffolding has been taken away, progressively revealing what the house will eventually look like, even though not all of the cladding has been fitted.  here's the view from the kitchen through to the utility room (the end of the conduit and the sponge won't be there eventually - and the island will from the kitchen through to the dining area from the kitchen across the hall to the sitting room from the hall through to the front study and from the study back to the hall Upstairs Ian the joiner started mid-week to glue the engineered oak flooring in place. A week of two named storms: Dudley and Eunice. Windy on Wednesday and very windy today. Slow  but steady progress with the tiling, constru ction of the mini-wall in bedroom 1 which will be the bedhead, insertion of the the flue for the woodburning stove into the chimney (meaning the scaffolding can soon go), more paint on the walls, and the arrival of more sanitaryware. Ian the joiner started the mini-wall construction by fitting the metalwork into grooves in the floor both supports in place and now there's a framework we have a flue (and some temporary decorative wall-stuffing) in the sitting room, a bird-proof cover on the chimney, and some tasteful paint in the bedroom which will be Elizabeth's study it's blinking bright in bedroom 2 the bathrooms and ensuites have been boarded ready for tiling and the whole of the ground floor has had this matting fitted which separates the porcelain tiles from the concrete screed this was the start of the tiling, in the dining area and...

Just a reminder of where we were a year ago. This photograph was taken on 12 February 2021: And this is a view (from a different angle) of where we are up to today - note the same model, wearing the same jacket): It's been another busy week at the house. Rob and his apprentice have been doing the repetitive work of fitting lights and power sockets, our joiners have made progress with the cladding, the heating system has run for a few days to dry out the more recently plastered walls, and an enormous pile of porcelain tiles for the ground floor and upstairs bath- and shower-rooms has arrived. whilst painted, the dining area shows that Pat has still not resolved the roof-light issue to his satisfaction the kitchen and utility share the colour of the dining area the Ecodan tank and accessories may be enclosed one day ..... ..... this being a rather better image of their complexity with the offer of control-by-app fun to come Knightsbridge and  Italian brands trying to give our skip a ...
